HIST 114 Creating American History
Taught as schedule allows (consult the Course Directory)
In this course we will be reading a number of books that have molded our understanding of American history -- biographies, primary sources, fiction, social science, and might-have-been history. We will be trying to understand why they are so important for our understanding of our past, and what assumptions have gone into the works of the authors themselves. Weekly papers and intense class discussion.
