HIST 204 Empire & Citizenship in America

This course looks at the connection between expansion and citizenship in American politics from the Founding to World War II. I will be trying to relate domestic and foreign policy, and we will be defining diplomatic history more broadly than usual. Students will be reading a variety of different sources—works of professional history, memoirs, documents, and novels. There will be short papers due every week.
