Upper level courses are on special topics and are more advanced. They often presuppose some basic knowledge in the field and should be more difficult courses than courses at the 1-199 levels.

This course provides tools for understanding the changing relationships among urban neighborhoods in the global economy. The course draws on approaches from cultural geography, studies of global economics, and anthropological theories of transnational culture to analyze processes within and among four cities: Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Santiago de Chile, and Ciudad Juarez on the U.S. - Mexico border.
