In this course we will examine major scholarship, themes, issues, and approaches in the study of European intellectual history 1300-1600, that are essential for both research and teaching. Topics will include universities and scholastic thought; the humanist movement; natural philosophy and the early Scientific Revolution; Platonism and prisca theologia; religious thought; regional intellectual cultures; language; gender.
