Kashmir: Paradise Garden or World Homeland?

Ron Inden

Abstract:

Ruling societies in many parts of the world have fashioned garden palaces, shrines, and even cities as paradises on earth. What happens, though, when ruling societies represent an entire country as the paradise on earth, the one from which humanity or an entire civilization derives? Kashmir in India is one of many examples of this "shift of scale."
