The Constitution of Historical Space: Past, Present, and Future
David Ludden Abstract: This paper introduces a book on the historical study of space/time as it complicates national geography. First, it lays out a theoretical perspective on problematics of "space in time" and "time in space," which appear more vividly today than perhaps ever before. Then it presents a tool box for historical analysis that elaborates two basic concepts, territoriality and mobility. Finally, it runs through the chapters to indicate how they contribute substantively to the historical study of space composed at shifting intersections of mobility and territoriality. |
