Ann Farnsworth-Alvear

Associate Professor of History

Ann Farnsworth-Alvear (BA, William and Mary, 1986; PhD, Duke University, 1994) teaches Latin American History and directs the Program in Latin American Studies. She has a special interest in working-class history, gender studies, and oral history. She is author of Dulcinea in the Factory: Myths, Morals, Men and Women in Colombia's Industrial Experiment, 1905-1960 (Duke University Press, 200), winner of the Allan Sharlin Prize of the Social Science History Association and and the Bolton-Johnson Prize of the Conference on Latin American History. Her current research focuses on the Colombian Choco and the history of race in Latin America.
