Personal Statement
As my major for undergraduate and master studies was international relations, I am interested in diplomatic history from 1945 to the 1990s. I want to examine the Cold War in Asia, the Vietnam Wars and Vietnamese diplomacy from the Communist perspective, which is much different from that of Western historiography. My M.Phil thesis at Cambridge was about the delicate triangular relationship between Vietnam, China and the Soviet Union during the Vietnam Wars.
