Ayelet Brinn and Tina Irvine were awarded Dissertation Completion Fellowships (DCFs)

Ayelet Brinn and Tina Irvine were awarded Dissertation Completion Fellowships (DCFs). These are university-wide, highly competitive grants.

Ayelet Brinn’s dissertation is entitled “Miss Amerike: The Yiddish Press’s Encounter with the United States.” Her committee is: Prof. Beth Wenger (advisor); Prof. Kathy Peiss; Prof. Kathryn Hellerstein (Germanic Languages and Literatures); and Prof. Tony Michels (University of Wisconsin-Madison) . Ayelet also received an external dissertation completion fellowship from the Association for Jewish Studies, and has declined the DCF.

Tina Irvine’s dissertation is entitled "Americanizing Appalachia: Mountain Uplift and the Preservation of White Citizenship, 1890-1929.” Her committee is: Professor Kathy Peiss (advisor); Prof. Kathy Brown; and Prof. Beth Linker (HSS).
