I study modern European intellectual history, especially the history of social and political thought, from the mid 19th century to the Second World War, mainly in German. I am currently working on my dissertation, a transatlantic history of an essay by Karl Marx, The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte, from its first publication in New York City (1852) through its reception in international social science and political movements in the 1930s. I have some background and strong interests in the history of science and the history of the humanities, including the history of history.
