Description: 
The Great Depression challenged and changed Americans and America. In this seminar we will explore the political, cultural and social history of the United States in the 1930s. We will consider the Depression as a decade that stands out as distinct in American history and as a crucial moment within the development of modern America. Our study will focus on a narrow slice of time, but will do so from a wide-range of perspectives. In order to examine the 1930s in depth, we will examine a breadth of sources and subjects from film to fiction, from politics to popular culture and the relationships between them.
