History Honor Society - Phi Alpha Theta
Undergraduates interested in applying for membership in Phi Alpha Theta, the International History Honor Society can inquire with the Undergraduate Advisor. The application process occurs once a year, usually in February.
Applicants must have completed at least four History courses at Penn. Study abroad and transfer credits will not be counted toward those four. Admission to Phi Alpha Theta requires a minimum GPA of 3.5 in History courses and a minimum overall GPA at Penn of 3.2.
Applications for Phi Alpha Theta consist of 3 parts:

- An unofficial transcript printed from Penn in Touch
- A $50 check or money order payable to the "Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania"
Submit application materials (hard copies) to Dr. Fabella in COLL 208C by the submission deadline:
12:00 noon on Friday, February 28, 2020.
Accepted students will be invited to an induction ceremony in April.
In addition, Phi Alpha Theta encourages history students to participate in and join the History Student Society (HSS). Phi Alpha Theta works in conjunction with HSS, and any activities planned by both groups will be sent out to all majors.
