The History Department would like to congratulate Joe Kiernan, a senior History Major, for winning a prestigious Thouron Award! One of six recipients at Penn, Joe will use the prize to pursue graduate study in the UK next year. He plans to do an MPhil or MLitt in International Relations with an emphasis on historical international security.
Joe recently completed an Honors Thesis in History titled “Sermons of Sacred Fire: Interwar Congressional Attenuation of U.S. Foreign Policy in East Asia.” Professors Fred Dickinson and Warren Breckman advised the project.
