Alex Martin was awarded the Soch'on Fellowship for post-doctoral studies from the Center for Korean Studies at the University of Washington in Seattle for the 2020-21 academic year.
Alex received his PhD from our Department in 2019. His dissertation is: Bridled Tigers: The Military at Korea’s Northern Border, 1800–1863. His committee was: Siyen Fei (Chair); Christopher Atwood (EALC and History Graduate Group); and Sun Joo Kim (Harvard-Yenching Professor of Korean History, Harvard).
