I am a historian of capitalism(s), specialized in Germany and modern Europe. In my current work, a history of the use, abuse, and decline of commodity futures contracts in modern Germany (c. 1850-1935), I draw primarily on legal, economic, and business history while not forgetting the social, cultural and intellectual contexts and implications of my subject.
