Sam Finkleman receives two awards

Sam Finkleman was awarded the Cohen-Tucker Dissertation Research Fellowship, offered through the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES).  The fellowship provides funding to conduct dissertation research in Russia. The Program is open to students in any discipline whose dissertation topics are within 19th - early 21st century Russian historical studies.

 

Sam was also awarded the Davis Center Summer FLAS award, which will cover tuition for the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute Ukrainian for reading knowledge course in Ukrainian this summer.

 

Sam’s dissertation is entitled “Ghetto, Gulag, Geulah: Jewish Nationalism, Inter-ethnic Encounters, and Collective Memory of Catastrophe in the Post-Stalin Soviet Union.”  His committee is: Ben Nathans (Supervisor): Warren Breckman; Peter Holquist; and Beth Wenger.
