Francis Ryan, who completed his PhD in History in 2003, has been awarded the John C. Brennan Award for excellence in fostering understanding of labor history in schools. 

 

 Ryan's advisor was Walter Licht, and his dissertation was titled Everyone Royalty: AFSCME, Municipal

Workers and Urban Power in Philadelphia, 1921-1983
