Thouron Award

Becky Sokolow, a Diplomatic History major from the class of 2015, was one of eight Penn students to win the prestigious Thouron Award this year.  Sokolow will use the award to pursue a master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Edinburgh.

11th Annual History Graduate Student Association Conference

Sam Casper was awarded the “Best Paper” prize at the 11th Annual History Graduate Student Association Conference, “Blood and Mortar: The Experience of Violence and its Aftermaths in History,” held earlier this month at the University of Maryland, College Park.  Sam’s paper, drawing on his dissertation, was entitled, “A Soviet History of Violence: Posthumous Rehabilitation and the Anti-Beriia Trials of 1955-56.”

Kellogg Institute for International Studies, Charles Warren Center, & American Academy of Arts and Sciences Fellowships

Amy Offner has received a fellowship from the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at Notre Dame University for Spring 2017. She has also been offered 2016-2017 fellowships from the Charles Warren Center at Harvard University and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in Cambridge.
